Now building
A waterfront residence on Kings Bay.
Our most ambitious commission to date is rising on the water in Crystal River: a private estate designed for a family who intends to stay for generations. It is the kind of home this coast has rarely seen — and the kind we have spent forty years preparing to build.
A-102Section · Turret stair · Kings Bay, Crystal River
Scroll to descend
Straight down into the turret.
The drone drops from the Kings Bay sky into a masonry stairwell that did not exist a season ago. Keep scrolling; the picture follows you.
Reinforced masonry
Block, steel and mortar.
Every course laid by hand, every cell grouted. The walls you are dropping past are the reason a Great Oaks home is built above Florida code, not to it.
Poured in place
A stair drawn on paper, poured in concrete.
The curve at the bottom of the well is the formwork for a stair that will outlast everything around it — including the house next door.
Now building
Built to outlast.

Watch it get built.
Three short films from this season: forty years in two minutes, the partners read aloud, and the family in their own words. Pick one; sound comes on when you press play.
A-201Elevations · What we build · Four disciplines, one standard
If you can dream it, we can build it.
That has been the Great Oaks motto for two generations. It is not a slogan about ambition — it is a statement about what we do not believe in: the words it can't be done.
Whole-home renovations, additions, and the outdoor rooms Florida was made for — pool remodels, pergolas, summer kitchens. We keep the job clean and the house livable while we work.
Storefronts in Inverness, office space in Homosassa, restaurants in Crystal River, and new commercial buildings — on a schedule your business can plan around.
From a backyard shop to a large red-iron commercial building — and red-iron custom homes engineered for hurricane-force winds. As a broker, we secure the best pricing in the county.
A-401Construction schedule · How we work · Five phases, one owner on site
You are welcome at every step.
Building a home can be stressful. We built our process to make it anything but — open communication, a number you can trust, and an owner who is on site instead of in an office across town.

01
Conversation
At our office, or on your land. You bring the dream; we bring forty years of what it takes to build it here.
02
Site & feasibility
Elevation, flood zone, soil, septic, access. On the coast the site decides half the design, so we read it before we draw.
03
Design & budget
Your plans, your finishes, our numbers — agreed before ground breaks. On budget and on schedule is our reputation.
04
The build
Kurt is on site through every phase. Rebecca runs the office, the schedule and your questions. Your visits are welcome, always.
05
Handover
We walk every room together, then stay a phone call away. Most clients leave as friends — that is the part we are proudest of.
Durations vary by home. The sequence does not.

Notes to the owner
Great Oaks is proud to be second-generation Florida home builders. The quality and craftsmanship my father was known for is the standard I hold on every project — and I am hands on through all of them.
My wife Rebecca manages the office, so when you call, you reach the people who are building your home. We know how stressful building can be, and we have built our process to make it anything but.
Our motto has never changed: if you can dream it, we can build it. We do not believe in the words it can't be done.

Every corner of the county.
From Gulf-access waterfront on Kings Bay to lakefront on the Tsala Apopka chain and oak-hammock acreage in between. If it is in Citrus County, we have most likely built near it.
A-701Partner schedule · The people who build alongside us · Citrus County
Nobody builds a home alone.
A Great Oaks home is the work of the best trades in Citrus County — the same people, home after home, for years. We put their names on the plans because they earned it. Members of the Citrus County Builders Association.
Under the vinyl siding of a 1985 home, Kurt found the original stucco. Great Oaks stripped the house down and restored it like new — the work, the ethic and the professionalism of the best general contractor Florida has to offer.
